Volunteer Issue

Welcome to our very special volunteer issue! I have to say, first of all, that Greensboro is really special to me because of how philanthropic our community is. It’s not just local businesses helping other local businesses, which is awesome, but people here genuinely seem to want to help others, and I really love that about our town.

This week, I’ve talked with folks from Backpack Beginnings, Children’s Home Society, and The Volunteer Center of Greensboro to help you get in the spirit to volunteer. According to a study from the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS), community service work has been linked to lower mortality rates, greater physical capabilities, and improved mental health. Sounds like a win-win to me!

With each article, I’ll be including a little bit about why this organization is important to me. These three organizations make an enormous impact on our community, but there are so many opportunities to help out. If you have any suggestions for people to get involved, give us a holler on social media, or email me at wovengreensboro@gmail.com. Thanks, everyone, for all that you do!

Happy holidays!

Your friend,
Lauren Davidson
